The first time a client connects to a host, RealFrame asks you to confirm a 6-digit pairing code. This is a quick, one-time check that proves both devices belong to you before any session starts.

Why pairing exists

Pairing makes sure that the device asking to connect is really yours. The code is short, shown on both ends, and only valid for that moment. You do not have to remember it or write it down.

Step 1: Start the connection

  1. On your client, sign in and select the host you want.
  2. Choose Connect.

If the two devices have never connected before, the client shows a 6-digit code and asks you to confirm.

Step 2: Compare the code

  1. Look at the 6-digit code on the client.
  2. Check that the same 6 digits appear on the host (or approve the request shown there).
  3. If they match, choose Confirm or Approve.

If the codes do not match, do not approve. Cancel and try again, and make sure you are connecting to the right host.

Step 3: You are paired

Once you confirm, the two devices are paired. The session opens, and the next time you connect from the same client to the same host, RealFrame remembers the pairing so you can connect straight away.

Pairing more devices

Each new client device pairs with each host the first time they connect. So if you add a laptop later, expect a one-time code the first time that laptop reaches a given host. This is normal and keeps every device accountable.

Good to know

  • A pairing code is only valid for the moment it is shown. If it expires, just start the connection again to get a fresh one.
  • Pairing is tied to your account. Only devices signed in to your RealFrame account can request to pair.
