Install a Client and Connect

The client is the app you use on the device in front of you to view and control a host. Clients run on Windows, Mac, and Linux today. iOS and Android clients are coming soon.

This guide assumes you already have a host set up. If you do not, start with install the host.

Step 1: Download the client

1. On the device you are sitting at, open a web browser.
2. Go to the RealFrame downloads page.
3. Choose the client for the operating system: Windows, Mac, or Linux.
4. Save and run the installer, then follow the prompts.

Step 2: Sign in

1. Open the RealFrame client.
2. Sign in with the same RealFrame account you used on the host.

Signing in with the same account is what lets the client see the hosts you own. No VPN and no network setup is involved.

Step 3: Pick the host you want

After you sign in, the client shows the hosts registered to your account. Each one shows its name and whether it is online.

1. Find the host you want to reach.
2. Make sure it shows as online. If it does not, confirm that computer is powered on, awake, and connected to the internet.

Step 4: Connect

1. Select the host.
2. Choose Connect.
3. The session opens in a window. You are now viewing and controlling that computer in real time.

If this is the first time these two devices are connecting, you may be asked to confirm a short pairing code. See pair devices with a code for exactly what to do.

During a session

• Move the mouse and type as if you were sitting at the host.
• To leave, simply close the session window or choose Disconnect. The host stays online and ready for the next time.
